What we do with
the UFO program…
Converts Procedure Specification (PDS)
producing output in native AS/400 COBOL.
CALLPLS and XCTLPLS structures are
replaced with PERFORM THRU structures.
COBOL data-names generated by the utility
are extensions of existing field-names found in the program.
All comments in the original code can
be carried through to the migrated code.
What about the screen layouts and I/O …
Each Display Definition (DD) is converted
to native AS/400 Data Display Specifications.
All UFO field attribute codes, color
codes, and highlighting codes are replicated with native
indicator processing.
PF keys are maintained and converted
to native AS/400 processing.
The original screen layouts are preserved,
and the conversion is transparent to the user. No changes
in input method are required.
The migration tool replaces all screen
related statements with the equivalent AS/400 statements.
And special UFO functions …
Navigation and program-to-program communication
throughout the application is maintained.
UFO commands and verbs are replaced
with the appropriate COBOL statements.
