Wang to AS/400 - Wang
to MicroFocus
What we do with the Wang VS COBOL program
Automatically converts Wang VS COBOL
to native AS/400 COBOL.
All converted code maintains the original
alignment of the original Wang source code.
All comments in the original code can
be carried through to the migrated code.
COBOL data-names generated by the utility
are extensions of existing field-names found in the program.
What about the map definition and I/O
Each Wang screen definition is converted
to native AS/400 Data Display Specifications.
Wang COBOL names are coded into DDS
field area for auto-documentation.
Wang FAC logic is converted to AS/400
indicator logic.
All features of the Wang DISPLAY and
READ are supported, including NO-MOD, ON PF KEY, and enabling
or disabling the ENTER KEY.
PF key feedback, cursor feedback and
positioning are converted to retain the "look and
feel" of the original transaction.
The original screen layouts are preserved,
and the conversion is transparent to the user. No changes
in input method are required.
The migration tool replaces all map
related statements with the equivalent AS/400 statements.
And special Wang VS COBOL functions
Wang SELECT and file descriptions become
AS/400 externally described files, transaction files,
or printer files.
Alternate key files become AS/400 logical
files.
Multiple record formats in one physical
file get the required logical files.
On OPEN OUTPUT, if the file does not
exist, code is generated to dynamically create it.
I/O (File name, library, volume) is
redirected into native AS/400 code.
Code is generated to support
RETURN-CODE.
