Wang to AS/400 - Wang to MicroFocus

What we do with the Wang VS COBOL program…

  • Automatically converts Wang VS COBOL to native MicroFocus COBOL, allowing the user to take full advantage of all the features of the destination platform.

  • All converted code maintains the original alignment of the original Wang source code.

  • All comments in the original code can be carried through to the migrated code.

  • COBOL data-names generated by the utility are extensions of existing field-names found in the program.

What about the map definition and I/O …

  • Extracts screens from the Wang program and creates native MicroFocus SCREEN SECTION source code.

  • All Wang field attributes are converted to native MicroFocus SCREEN SECTION source code.

  • All Wang FAC logic is converted to MicroFocus SCREEN SECTION source code.

  • Wang screen editing features are duplicated via MicroFocus SCREEN SECTION codes.

  • All features of the Wang DISPLAY and READ are supported, including NO-MOD, ON PF KEY, and enabling or disabling the ENTER KEY.

  • Wang PF key feedback, cursor feedback and cursor positioning are converted to retain the "look and feel" of the original transaction.

  • The original screen layouts are preserved, and the conversion is transparent to the user. No changes in input method are required.

  • Full screen I/O is supported.

And special Wang VS COBOL functions …

  • Wang user subs are rewritten as subroutines on the destination platform.

  • Wang SELECT statements and file descriptions are rewritten to MicroFocus SELECT statements and file descriptions.

  • Wang alternate key files are converted to MicroFocus alternate indexes.

  • Generates code to handle READ with TIME-OUT clause.

  • Files are automatically converted to any MicroFocus supported database.

  • Wang binary usage converted to MicroFocus binary usage.

  • Wang MOVE WITH CONVERSION statement is converted to equivalent MicroFocus code.
